Hello there,
Support Live Music!
I went to see Tom Russell play at Hugh's Room last night and boy does he know how to put on a show. He has these songs that just blow my mind and his delivery kills me. He really knows how to captivate an audience and keep them in the palm of his hand. And, his accompanist Michael Martin was just so tasteful on guitar and mando. Another treat was the presence of Ian Tyson who sang with Russell on their co-write: Navajo Rug. -Very cool.
A few nights ago I also had the privilege of seeing The Weakerthans at the Phoenix which was another great show. It had been a long time since I had seen a band play and I loved it. The Weakerthans are new to me and they play music that is quite different than what I typically listen to. -I'm looking forward to listening to them more.
Aside from these and a couple of other shows, it's been a while since I've been able to regularly check out live music. As a songwriter, it's important that I do because live music provides me with so much in the way of inspiration. It's also important that I support live music and the people playing it and it's important that you do too! So, if I leave you with anything let it be the importance of supporting live music. -It will do good things to you, I promise.
That's all I have to say for now. I've got some dates coming up and some surprises around the corner but I'll let you know about that when the time comes.
